I started a modified version of Whole 30 on Monday. I am hoping to reset some nutrition habits. Knowing I have no choice but to forgo the wine and some of my favorite comfort foods, I began to think of some calming activities I could do in place of the food items in conjunction with some new recipes. Here are some activities I came up with:
- Take a bath with epsom salt and lavender
- Play with essential oils
- Relax to some candle light
- Enjoy infused water in a wine glass
- Go for a walk
- Sit outside in solitude and look up at the stars and moon
- Got to bed a little earlier
As I began to think of all the things I could do, the usage of water, oil, light and salt started to stand out as I reviewed my list. All items represented a purification process that food or even exercise itself could not produce, from a spiritual and biblical perspective.
Water has long represented life, the holy spirit, and cleansing.
Salt has represented purification, preservation, flavor, impact and even friendship.
Oil has represented blessing, prosperity, and healing.
Light has represented Jesus Himself, goodness, divinity, truth, heaven and angels.
While this 30 day reboot initially began as a way to reset a few things from a nutrition perspective, I believe it is also going to help reset my mind and heart the most. As much as I am looking forward to all the great recipes I will be trying out, I am also looking forward to implementing all that water, salt, oil and light has to offer.
